These are the electronic components that we have discussed so far:

Battery

There are, of course, many types of batteries, which vary in voltage and total capacity.

Resistor

There are many different types of resistors, which vary in both resistance and how much current they can handle. The stripes indicate what the resistance is.

Capacitor

There are many different types of capacitors. Some of them are polarized, meaning they can only be inserted into the circuit in one direction. The image shows a polarized capacitor, which must be inserted with the longer lead wire attached to the positive side of the circuit. The symbol, on the other hand, is a basic symbol for a capacitor, which is often modified depending on the type of capacitor needed.

LED

LED stands for light-emitting diode. There are many different sizes and colors of LEDs. There are also infrared LEDs. The symbol combines the standard diode symbol with two arrows to indicate the light being emitted.

Transistor

There are a great many different types of transistors. The two main types are NPN and PNP transistors. This symbol is for an NPN transistor.

Optical interrupter

An optical interrupter combines and LED with a sensor.
