It is the point on the ground directly above the source of an earthquake or directly below the point of an air burst explosion.

What do the arrows represent?
The direction that trees were knocked down.
Why are the arrows in the pattern that they are?
They are generally pointing away from the center of the explosion. The length of the arrows also indicate how knocked over the trees are. The ones directly below the explosion were damaged but not knocked over as much because the force of the explosion was directed downward rather than out away from the explosion.
What event is this map depicting?
The Tunguska event which occurred in 1908 and is thought to have been a large asteroid that exploded over the epicenter in Siberia.
